OK, so I don't mean to complain, but this weather lately has been pretty crazy. On Monday we set a record high temperature here in NW Ohio by hitting 79 degrees. The old record was 77 degrees and was set 33 years ago. Today's high temp, according to the weather thing on my desktop, was 76, a few degrees off from another record. But tomorrow, they're calling for a high temperature of 54, which is actually up from what they were originally saying which was 43. This is the weather that makes everyone sick, it goes from warm to cold in a matter of hours, if not minutes. But I'm going to enjoy the warmer weather while I can!
I hope if you're having nice weather that you get the chance to enjoy it!

I need to get prepared!
I know that spring has just arrived, but whenever we enter a new season, I start thinking about the next season and things I'd like to do and what I'll need in order to be able to do them. In the summer time we spend most of our time outside, whether it's here at home or out at the beach or other numerous places we go as a family. And with having kids, the one thing I've learned is to always be prepared for the worst. Something I think we really need to pick up this year to be prepared for our summer outings is one of those really good First Aid Kits. I could stash it in my car and we'd have it wherever we went in case of an unexpected injury.

Spring IS Springing
It's a beautiful sunny day here in NW Ohio. I have both of the windows in my office open and the breeze feels awesome. Yeah, it's a little chilly and I did have to put a sweatshirt on, but I'm really enjoying the smell of the fresh air! I'm also loving the sounds that I'm hearing. I've heard 3 or 4 different kinds of birds today as well as the oodles of frogs and bull frogs that are out back in the ditch and woods!
Spring, without a doubt, is my favorite time of year. I love watching everything come back to life, it feels like a time of renewal to me in some ways. I noticed last night that my burning bush in the side yard is starting to get a few buds on it, and I've seen many trees while I've been out driving that have that greenish tint to them, meaning they are also starting to bud.
I honestly can't wait until I can start cleaning out my flower beds in anticipation of planting this years flowers, but that won't be for a while yet because I get my flowers for Mothers Day as a tradition. I'm also thinking about putting in a small garden this year with a few plants of the veggies we eat the most. Maybe some onions and cucumbers as well as some tomatoes and some corn. But with all that I've got on my plate right now, I'm not so sure that's a great idea. Maybe if I can get the kids to agree to help me take care of it, between the 3 of us we should be able to handle it!
But the most amazing thing is the fact that on the news this morning they said we're going to have a really good chance at breaking a record high temperature tomorrow. They're calling for a high temp of 78, and the current record is 77, not sure when it was set though, I missed that part. I'm thrilled that the weather is nicer, but I'm just not sure I'm ready for near 80 degree temps yet. Upper 60's are perfectly fine with me! How's the weather in your neck of the woods?

When I think about spring
I think about getting the motorcycle out and hubby and I doing some serious riding again! The funny thing is that almost every year when we get the bike out again we both go scrambling around the house trying to find where we put our motorcycle sunglasses up the previous year. And it almost never fails that we end up having to replace them because we can't find them....LOL! But have no fear, I remember exactly where I put them last year, so we won't have that problem this year!
Rain, rain, go away
OK, so our first full day of spring is going to be a rainy day today. At least the temp is going to be right around 60, that's better than the 30's and 40's we've had the past few days! But if I seen the weather right this morning, it's supposed to rain most of the week. But our ditches out here are already so flooded that if we get rain all week, we're really going to be in big trouble!
But as much as I'm complaining about the rain, I have to admit that I'm THRILLED that it's not snow and ice!
Anyway, I wasn't around yesterday, so HAPPY BELATED FIRST DAY OF SPRING!!!

Well, we got some snow!
And I don't mean just a little either...LOL! Around my sidewalk I'm measuring almost 2 foot of the white stuff, but that's because of the winds that came with out lovely blizzard warning last night. Since yesterday morning my poor hubby has worked almost 24 hours. He got home today around 4, showered, ate and took a 2+ hour nap, poor guy was totally exhausted. He's now sitting at the dining room table helping our son build a bridge out of toothpicks...LMAO!
The only bummer about the snow was that it caused a power outage last night, but not here, in town where our local Fox station is at. When their back up generators kicked in it caused a fire so they had to evacuate the building. This all happened minuted before American Idol came on which was a bummer! BUT, I'm very glad that no one was hurt in the fire, that's more important that my Idol addiction...LOL!
They did replay last nights episode tonight at 7:00, so I did get to see it....YAY!! Tonights episode comes on at 9:00 :-)

Too cold to ice skate?
Apparently it is, here in my town it was so cold the other day that they actually closed the skating rink down. It was more because of the fact that they wanted people to stay inside than it was because of the cold. The other thing that blew my mind was the fact that they even closed the kitchen for the poor. That's just sad!
So that's what I've been doing, beating the FREEZING cold! On Monday it was -27 with the wind chill when I got up. Yesterday wasn't much better, but I'm THRILLED to say that today the current temp is 8 and with the windchill it's only -6....WHOOHOO!! It's a heatwave, break out the bathing suits and head to the beach....LMAO!
The kids have been home from school the past 2 days but FINALLY went back today! I'm enjoying my peace and quiet!

First snow day
Well, the kids have their first snow day of the year today. Almost every school in the area has closed, but amazingly their old school didn't even delay. The roads are bad according to my hubby. I'm just hoping it clears up by this afternoon because my son has an orthodontics consultation at 2:30, and I really do not want to have to change the appointment! Here's some pictures I took a little while ago. I must admit that it looks pretty, the snow is wet and clinging to the trees, but that is also the reason why the roads are so bad.
Hope your day goes well!

We finally got snow
Well, after wondering for the last few months if we'd ever get snow, we finally got snowed on yesterday! They called for 1 to 3 inches, but we got almost 4 inches out here. With the snow also came a VERY cold blast of weather. When I woke up at 5:30 this morning the temp outside was 4 degrees before the windchill.......YUCK!!!!
I managed to take the camera outside yesterday and get a couple of pictures without freezing to death. Like I said, it's not alot of snow, but it's the first measurable snow we've had in like a year. It's just too bad that it's so cold though, even the kids didn't want to go out and play in it....LOL!
On to the pictures:

Still no snow
OK, This REALLY stinks! Here we are, 5 days until Christmas and we sill have NO snow! And as of today's noon news, we have a 0% chance of having a white Christmas. The weather has been abnormally mild for December in NW Ohio. Last week we had day time temps near 60 degrees with overnight temps in the 40's. This week we're in the 40's during the day and low 30's - upper 20's over night, which is better, but the conditions just aren't there for snow.
Now, in all honesty, I'm not a big fan of the "white stuff", but for hubby and I, snow is good for business. His job involves snow removal, and my job involves selling and repairing snow removal equipment. Thus snow = more moolah! LOL
So, if you happen to be "hooked up" with the weather Gods, or Mother Nature, or ANYONE that can change weather, would you PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE ask them to send snow to NW Ohio! I'd greatly appreciate it!
